Luxor Awarded AFASU Golden Award as the First Global Capital of Culture, History, and Heritage.
Luxor Named the Inaugural "World Capital of Culture, History, and Heritage"
The African Asian Union (AFASU) announced the selection of Luxor City to win the "First World Capital of Culture, History and Heritage" award. This selection came after the final selection and competition with Kyoto, Japan, where Luxor City won unanimously by the Supreme International Committee of the AFASSU Golden Awards, which consists of 42 members and representatives from all international and global institutions and bodies, in appreciation of Luxor City's global status as an icon of human culture and civilization.
Dr. Hossam Mohamed Darwish, President of the African-Asian Union (AFASU), explained that the “First Capital of Culture, History and Heritage in the World” award is one of the leading awards presented by the African-Asian Union (AFASU) to honor cities that have an exceptional historical and cultural legacy that contributes to enriching human civilization and is a symbol of culture, history and civilization. The award is given to the city that is distinguished by its efforts in preserving heritage, developing culture and promoting sustainable tourism. The award is an international platform to highlight these cities and highlight them as global tourist, cultural and historical destinations.
It is worth noting that the African-Asian Union (AFASU) is an international union that aims to enhance cooperation between the African and Asian continents in the fields of tourism, culture, technology, sustainable development and innovation through innovative programs and international initiatives. The union seeks to promote human values and cultural understanding among peoples. It is a union that emerged from the Afro-Asian Peoples' Solidarity Organization (AAPSO), which is the second oldest international popular non-governmental organization in the world. It was established by a decision and international treaty from African and Asian leaders with an idea launched by Presidents Nehru, Tito and Abdel Nasser at the Bandung Conference in Indonesia in 1955. It has members from 92 countries from Africa, Asia, Europe and Latin America. The African Asian Union is one of the executive arms of this venerable organization.
The Afro-Asian Union (AFASU) has officially announced Luxor as the first Global Capital of Culture, History, and Heritage, following a competitive selection process with three international cities. Luxor won the award for its exceptional management, strong community engagement, and rich historical and cultural heritage.
